Although Aehee Kang Asano's parents came from North and South Korea, Aehee was born in Yokohama, Japan, where she grew up. At age 15 she started her career as a poet, writer, and underground art critic. In 2007, she moved to Brooklyn, New York where she found a way to visualize her poetry and became interested in documentary photography. Her works have been internationally published in publications such as The Village Voice, Brooklyn Rail and 81 Lab, among others. In addition, her photographs have been exhibited in The Ise Gallery, The Center of Fine Art Photography, and The Islip Museum. Currently she is working on her first book of collected poems, a novel, and is also working on a documentary project of Artists in New York.
