Anna M. Antoniak

Anna Antoniak has worked as a kindergarten teacher in Spanish Harlem, editorial assistant in the belly of midtown, and for the past five years, a dean’s assistant off Washington Square Park. She was born and raised in Brooklyn. Her parents, who met at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland, emigrated to New York in the 1980s, and Anna grew up immersed in the Polish émigré arts scene of Brooklyn. At age 16 she worked as a waitress at the beloved Polish establishment, Teresa’s, in Brooklyn Heights, and after four years of exposure to liberal arts at Amherst College, Anna returned to her city of birth. Most recently she was a Fulbright finalist for an English Teaching Fellowship to Poland, and plans to move there soon for an extended stay. Anna holds a master’s degree in International Education from NYU, and hopes to develop multicultural curriculum for NYC schools or do policy work in education abroad; whichever comes first. She loves a good dance party, and can be found knitting cableknit pantas when she’s not dancing.
