Mariya Yefremova was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and lived there until nine, at which point she moved to Queens, New York with her mother. She attended Hunter College where she received three Bachelor of Arts degrees, pursuing her love for literature and current events. Currently, she works for an environmental nonprofit organization recruiting volunteers and teaching people how to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost. She blogs for the Huffington Post and will be receiving her Masters in Human Rights in Europe in the fall. Mariya is a dual citizen of the United States and Russia. She has lived, studied, and worked in France and loves traveling, having visited Germany, Italy, Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Canada, and the Dominican Republic.
