As a Marine Corps brat, Rebecca Haughey spent her childhood trotting across the country, and even had a brief first grade stint in Iwakuni, Japan, before spending her high school years in the humorously named small town of Niceville, Florida. While studying communications and English literature at Texas A&M University, she realized she could transform herself from a news junkie to a news producer and began to spend increasingly longer hours in the newsroom of The Battalion, the university's daily newspaper. Over the course of her two years at the student paper, Rebecca served as a lifestyles reporter, page one copy editor, and lifestyles desk editor. After graduating summa cum laude, she spent a year reporting full-time for a couple of weekly newspapers in Houston, where she wrote more stories about horses and country music than she had previously thought possible. She currently resides in New York City with her husband and is seeking editorial work in the media or publishing industries. When she is not writing, Rebecca enjoys reading everything from the back of the cereal box to David Sedaris' essays. Other favorite hobbies include thrifting, cooking, and wondering what to name the blog she is yet to create.
