Johnny Depp Puts His Estate in Southern France For Sale: You Have To Take A Look Inside (And Outside)!
Johnny Depp’s luxurious 37-acre French estate could be yours! Well, if you have $26 million sitting in your bank account that is.
After years of meticulous renovations which amounted to $10 million, the 52-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor decided to part ways with the beloved property by putting it in the hands of Côte d’Azur Sotheby’s International Realty. Depp apparently spent 15 years at the estate and purchased it in 2001, often using it as a place of escape, tranquility and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of his Hollywood life with his then partner, French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis (who also happens to be the mother of his two children, Lily-Rose Melody and Jack John Christopher).
“Johnny’s used the property extensively to get away from the Hollywood hustle, recharge his batteries and reconnect with nature. He truly loved this property which allowed him to lead a normal, tranquil life and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. It is here where he taught his kids, Lily-Rose and Jack, to appreciate such essential values as respect of nature and a healthy, down-to-earth lifestyle,” Alexander Kraft, the chairman and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty France, explains in a recent press release.
“Johnny has decided to sell the Plan de la Tour property to close this chapter of his life and move on. He hopes that someone else will enjoy the property as much as he did and [that it will] bring him/her the same happiness it brought him,” he further adds.
Given his recent nuptials with the 29-year-old American actress Amber Heard (they were married at Depp’s Los Angeles home in February), we can’t say we blame him for wanting to “move on.” After all, the place is bound to hold quite a few memories for him, and he most likely wants to make new ones elsewhere with his current wife — someplace that doesn’t serve as a reminder of his past.
But what besides the celebrity name associated with it makes this estate so exquisite, you ask? Located 17 miles from Saint Tropez, this hameau (a remote Provençal village comprised of more than a dozen buildings) boasts 10,760 sq. feet (1,000 sq. meters) of living space. This includes 12 bedrooms (with just as many bathrooms), a professional kitchen, guest cottages, a bar and restaurant, a chapel, a painter’s studio (where Depp himself painted on occasion), a fitness area, a children’s playroom and a garage. Of course, the allure doesn’t end there. There are also the landscaped grounds complete with vines, olive trees, fountains, a vegetable garden, and naturally, a huge swimming pool that is surrounded by sand (because who needs the beach when you can have a whole village in France?). It also has its very own beach bar. And just in case that’s not enough for you, there is another smaller swimming pool and a skateboard ring close by.
“Where else in the world can guests sleep in a converted village church, sample wines in a tasting cave that resembles a Pirates of the Caribbean set, and in the evening meet in an authentic Provencal village restaurant and bar?” Kraft asks of us.
Yet what’s truly unique is that Depp designed much of the interior himself (guess he can now add interior designer to his resume!), and unlike with other celebrity home sales, this one comes with all the furniture and trinkets included in the price. Yes, that means you can own some of Depp’s personal belongings!
“Contrary to many other properties of major international celebrities, Johnny Depp’s estate has not been decorated by an interior designer, but by Johnny himself. As a consequence, the estate is not a ritzy showplace, but an utterly charming family home that truly reflects Johnny Depp’s unique character and taste. Its enchanting bohemian atmosphere sets it apart from many other major estates in Southern France and makes it truly one-of-a-kind,” Kraft says.
“In a rare move seldom seen in real estate sales of similar character, the asking price actually includes all of the property’s furniture and a great number of personal belongings of Johnny Depp’s. Thus, the purchaser will be able to not only acquire an exceptional property, but also many personal items of one of the greatest stars of our times,” he adds.
And if this celebrity’s lifestyle and memorabilia don’t leave you impressed, consider the fact that some of the buildings are thought to date back more than 200 years. That’s quite a bit of history! Plus, one can’t deny the beautiful surrounding area with its close proximity to the international airport of Nice (80 minutes away) and several touristy attractions, including the city of Cannes (60 minutes away) which is home to the world-famous Cannes Film Festival as well as the Boulevard de la La Croisette, sandy beaches and upmarket boutiques. Just imagine yourself eating a freshly-baked croissant with homemade strawberry jam in the morning as you overlook your own private gardens, followed by a nice stroll later that afternoon around Le Suquet (Old Town) in Cannes, only to come back home for a relaxing evening dip in your swimming pool.
We don’t know about you, but given the breathtaking views and fairy tale setting, we sure wish we had millions lying around somewhere! Take a look at the rest of the photos below and tell us who you think will be the next lucky owner of this peaceful French hamlet!
